She is taken to Madrid, where her life will be in danger if she doesn’t manage to escape a senseless fate. Around her, a web of interests and corruption weaves among unscrupulous politicians, greedy libertines, and imperial deserters, at a time when the greatest empire in all Christendom begins to decline.
