Description
Isla loves her life with her dad on their sprawling Texas ranch. What it lacks in people, it more than makes up for in animals and wildlife. All the creatures in the woods and fields are Isla's trusted friends, and she speaks their language almost better than her own. When a new family moves in near the property, Isla begins to realize the value and fun in having friends more like her. Meeting her new friend Cash is its own adventure, and she starts to introduce him to her favorite parts of the ranch. But soon, Isla starts realizing odd things out of place, and then fires begin to start all across the property. Could it simply be the drought that's to blame, or is there something more calculated behind it all? Discover the truth with Isla and Cash in the exciting first book of Isabella Allen's Wild at Heart Mysteries series, Through the Barbed Wire
About the Author
Isabella Allen grew up on a twenty-five acre property in Texas, where she still lives with her parents, older sister, younger brother, and rescue mutt, Paisley. She developed a love for animals and exploring at a very early age, but her real adventuring didn’t start until she started venturing deeper into the property with her younger cousin as a teenager. Isabella was inspired by all of the amazing things they discovered and decided that one day she would take more people “through the barbed wire and on an adventure!” by writing a book. Cynthia Meadows, a native Texan, has always had a passion for creating her own characters and inspiring the imagination of children with her art. After graduating from Rice University with a BA in Architecture, she decorated cakes and painted personal art pieces, eventually venturing into commercial art. Since moving to Dallas, she has illustrated storyboards, finished art for multiple ad agencies, painted pet portraits and murals, done faux finishing, worked with decorative concrete, and illustrated market comps and storyboards. Her own childhood inspiration began with Winnie the Pooh and The Wind in the Willows, and Cynthia’s children’s book illustrations will hopefully bring this same love of books to children and expand their world in a positive, loving way.
